SUMMARY:The Truth About Garden Myths
DESCRIPTION:Everyone has their own tips and observations about gardening\,
but how many of these are actually myths? Join Debbie LaGattuta from the
Rutgers Master Gardeners of Monmouth County and become a garden mythbuster!
During this presentation\, you will learn real facts that expose gardening
myths\, common misconceptions about gardening practices\, and a few old
wives’ tales. The myths cover a wide range of topics: watering\,
 fertilizing\, soil\, vegetables\, composting\, planting trees and shrubs\,
plants and their care\, mulch\, weeds\, container gardens\, and insects and
pests.\n\nAfter a long career in the computer software industry\, Debbie
studied fundamentals of horticulture at Brookdale Community College and
became a certified master gardener in 2015. She currently serves as
co-chairperson of the Speakers Bureau and has authored more than a dozen
presentations on a variety of horticultural topics. She also leads
volunteers at the Church of St. Anselm in Tinton Falls to grow and donate
fresh organic produce to local food pantries. Debbie has been a home
gardener for over 35 years\, and her property is planted with shrub
 borders\, several perennial borders\, a small vegetable garden\, and
 container gardens.
