SUMMARY:Meditation & Serenity
DESCRIPTION:There is no such thing as bad meditation. The essence of
meditation is bringing ourselves back to the present moment and our breath
whenever we find ourselves\, thinking\, planning or remembering. How can we
achieve this? Present moment awareness is achieved by concentrating on this
current breath being inhaled into the body and being exhaled from the body.
The present moment is always perfect\, with no anxiety (future planning)
and no regrets (reliving the past). With practice\, these moments are
strung together until every step\, every movement\, every action is another
meditative moment. Join us as we embark on this journey of meditation and
serenity. Each month brings a new focus on a different meditative technique
or style.\n\nPlease only register once as you will receive the weekly Zoom
link for every session in the series. \n\nMeditation and Serenity Overview:
This weekly class begins with a 10-minute sharing period during which each
participant has the opportunity to briefly share their current state and
what joys or sorrows they bring with them. This is followed by 15 minutes
of breath-work combined with stretching to heighten sensations\, bring
focus out of our minds and into our bodies\, and facilitate our capacity to
sit still. Please join the Zoom at 10:00AM if you would like to
participate in this portion.\n\nThe 30-minute guided meditation begins with
a gong sound on a Tibetan brass singing bowl. During the meditation\, we
are guided to focus on the five senses\, which slows the heartbeat\,
settles the mind\, evokes feelings of well-being. There will be periods of
silence during which a singing bowl is played with an invitation to relax
to the sound\, or consider some idea or suggestion. With the sounds of
three gongs\, our meditation comes to an end.\n\nNote: No class on Friday\,
 April 3rd
